Environmental Public Health - DOH-Charlotte

Onsite Sewage Program

Learn more about DOH-Charlotte's Onsite Sewage Program:

Charlotte County's Code of Ordinances states that “all non-ATU on-site sewage systems located within three hundred (300) feet, as measured from the closest point of the drainfield to a canal or other surface waters, shall be pumped empty at least once every five years by a licensed septic tank contractor or plumber equipped and certified to pump on-site sewage systems."

Along with the pump out, Charlotte County, Florida, homeowners are responsible to provide a copy of the septic tank certification and obtain a permit with Florida Department of Health in Charlote County's (DOH-Charlotte) Division of Environmental Public Health. Failure to do so results in enforcement action.
