DOH Charlotte April Events

Port Charlotte, Fla.— The Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County (DOH-Charlotte) will be participating in and/or hosting multiple events, including:

  • Sunlight Mission Health Fair and Cookout – March 25th 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Charlotte County Library – Free STI testing, Narcan kits, and education
  • Easter Event / Safe Kids Day – April 1st 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Sonshine Baptist Church
  • Documentary Screening – “Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope" will be held Wednesday, April 19th 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Family Services Center
  • Remake Learning Days – April 28th 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at YMCA in Punta Gorda
  • Kids Health Fair – April 29th 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at YMCA in Englewood

The documentary "Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope" will be held Wednesday, April 19th, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Family Services Center located at 12500 Gibralter Drive, Port Charlotte, FL 33952. This hour-long documentary looks at the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and prevention and treatment of toxic stress, now understood to be one of the largest public health issues facing our generation and a leading cause of everything from heart disease and cancer to substance abuse and depression. The documentary is designed to spread a message of awareness but, more importantly, hope.

A virtual option is also being offered for the documentary screening for those who are unable to attend the event in person. Please email kaci.brooks-lynch@flhealth.gov to register.
