DOH-Charlotte Hosts Child Safety and Wellness Workshops and Child Passenger Safety Certification Program

Charlotte County, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County (DOH-Charlotte) invites the community to attend two activities in September focusing on the wellbeing of children, the Child Safety and Wellness Workshops and the Child Passenger Safety Certification Program.

Child Safety and Wellness Workshops

The Child Safety and Wellness Workshopshelp future or current parents and caregivers be prepared to properly install a car seat, keep kids safe during water activities, provide them nutritious meals, and understand the importance of maintaining safe sleeping practices for infants. The free workshops will be offered both in-person and virtually through late October.

The in-person workshops will be held Tuesday, September 16, and Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 4 – 5:30 p.m. at the following location:

Charlotte County Family Services Center 
21500 Gibralter Dr. 
Port Charlotte, FL 33952

The virtual workshops will be held Tuesday, September 30, and Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 5 – 6 p.m. A video streaming invitation link will be provided via email prior to each virtual event.

Child Passenger Safety Certification Program

The Child Passenger Safety Certification Program will equip participants with basic awareness about child passenger safety and proper car seat installation, preparing passing candidates to provide basic instruction in child passenger safety to families and caregivers.

 The program consists of three, eight-hour classes and one, six-hour class. Participants must attend the entire program and pass a final car seat installation to become certified. The program’s registration fee is $95, but scholarship opportunities may be available to qualifying candidates.

The program will be held daily from Wednesday, September 24, to Friday, September 26, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the following location:
