Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Program

Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County (DOH-Charlotte)

The mission of the Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County's (DOH-Charlotte) Sexually Transmitted Infections Program is to reduce the number of new sexually transmissible infections (STIs) in Charlotte County, Florida, and prevent disease related complications by promoting sexual health education, identifying diseases early, providing timely treatment, implementing partner services, and collaborating with public and private partners.


STI Services

DOH-Charlotte provides the following STI-related services:

  • STI testing, treatment, counseling, and education, including for HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia
  • PrEP (on-site services) and nPEP (referrals)
  • Organizes STI education, awareness, and outreach events
  • Educational pamphlets and material
  • Free male and female condoms
  • Free dental dams and lubrication

STI Testing Information

DOH-Charlotte's STI tests are confidential. Results are only given in person and via Florida Department of Health's Patient Portal.

DOH-Charlotte's STI tests will include pre- and post-test counseling.

Trained counselors provide education and support to individuals who are at risk of becoming infected with STIs or are already infected. 

If a test is positive, your counselor will discuss options with you. They will also help you get medical treatment and care by providing a referral to available local resources.


STI Test Fees

DOH-Charlotte's STI test fees are based on ability to pay and/or insurance can be billed. No one is turned away for inability to pay.

Call DOH-Charlotte Monday to Friday to make an appointment. Same day or next day appointments may be available.
