HIV Testing

The Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County provides confidential HIV testing. Results are generally given within two weeks, and often times sooner than that. All counselors are certified testers that ensure testing is done safely and confidentially. Trained counselors provide education and support to individuals who are at risk of becoming infected with HIV or are already infected.

It is very important to know your status.

  • Testing is confidential.
  • You can make an appointment by calling 941-624-7200. Same day or next day appointments are available.
  • The testing procedure will include pre- and post-test counseling.
  • Results are only given in person.
  • Your provider/counselor will help you decide which HIV test is right for you.

Test fees are based on ability to pay and/or insurance can be billed. No one is turned away for inability to pay.

If a Test is Positive

Your counselor will discuss options with you. He/she will help you get medical treatment and care by providing a referral to available local resources.
