The Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (BCCEDP) makes it easy to get recommended breast and cervical cancer screenings.
Services provided include:
- Breast and cervical cancer screening exams (clinical breast exams, mammograms, and Pap tests) to approximately 5% of the at need population, as funding allows.
- Care coordination to all clients with abnormal exams.
- Women screened through the program and diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer are referred to Florida Medicaid for eligibility determination.
Diagnostic funds are reserved for women screened through the program.

The counties serviced by the Southwest Florida Regional Coordinator are Charlotte, Collier, Desoto, Glades, Hendry, Lee, Manatee, and Sarasota.

What happens after I apply?
The Florida Department of Health will let you know if you qualify. The department will make your appointments for breast and cervical cancer screenings and other needed tests for one year.
Who pays for these services?
- The Florida Department of Health provides access to free or low-cost breast cancer screenings to women who are uninsured or underinsured, have a low income, and meet the program eligibility requirements.
- Treatment may also be covered by Medicaid.
