The Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County (DOH-Charlotte) provides rewarding volunteer opportunities in Charlotte County, Florida.
To volunteer at DOH-Charlotte, applicants must:

How to apply
Step 1: Download, complete, and submit via email to CharlottePromotion@FLHealth.gov the Volunteer Application Form along with a copy of your medical license (if applicable).
Step 2: Interview with DOH-Charlotte staff.
Step 3: If selected, complete and pass a Level 2 background check.
Once all materials have been submitted and the background screening is completed, staff will review your application and extend an invitation to volunteer with DOH-Charlotte if all qualifications are successfully met.
Completion of mandatory online trainings are required prior to starting.
DOH-Charlotte staff will notify you of your start date, orientation, and any other needs.

What is a Level 2 background screening?
A Level 2 background check in Florida is a comprehensive screening required for positions of trust and responsibility. The key steps include fingerprinting and a criminal history review.
The Florida Department of Health requires everyone to complete a Level 2 background screening and receive a satisfactory result from the screening before starting their first day.
Do I have to complete other trainings to participate in any program?
Yes. The Florida Department of Health requires everyone to complete the course in TRAIN: FDOH Information Security and Privacy Awareness. This class is part of our online learning management system and can be completed in just a few hours.
Depending on the position held, additional training may be required.
Will I get paid?
No.
What hours will I be required to work?
Hours are scheduled based on the department’s needs and the applicant’s availability. Workdays are typically Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. DOH-Charlotte also sponsors and attends community-based activities evenings and weekends.
Do you accept internships or preceptorships?
Yes. Interested candidates should coordinate through their school.
