Port Charlotte, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County (DOH-Charlotte) has issued a HEALTH ALERT for the presence of red tide near Englewood Beach, Don Pedro Island State Park (Kettle Harbor), Cedar Point Environmental Park Dock (Lemon Bay) and Stump Pass (Lemon Bay), Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center; W of (Charlotte Harbor) and a HEALTH CAUTION for Cottom Key; W of (Charlotte Harbor), Sister Ponds Creek; E of (Charlotte Harbor), Punta Gorda Boat Ramp (Charlotte Harbor), Placida Fishing Pier (Gasparilla Sound), Don Pedro, Miton Pass, Ainger Creek Park, Little Gasparilla Island; E of (Placida Harbor), and Gasparilla Pass. This is in response to water samples taken. The public should exercise caution in and around this area.
