The objective of Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County's (DOH-Charlotte) Migrant Farmworker Housing Program is to reduce the risk of communicable disease transmission and injury among migrant farm workers in Charlotte County, Florida, by establishing comprehensive and uniform procedures for permitting and inspecting migrant housing.

Hundreds of thousands of migrants and seasonal farm workers, and their families, annually travel and work in Florida. Florida Department of Health's Migrant Farmworker Housing Program issues thousands of permits in over 50 counties ensuring that tens of thousands of migrants and seasonal farm workers, and their families, live in housing that meets or exceeds standards set by law.
